Tsaghkadzor is the second most popular skiing resort among Russian tourists

Armenia’s resort town of Tsaghkadzor is the second most popular skiing resort for Russian tourists in former Soviet republics after Chimbulak resort in Kazakhstan, according to a survey of the most popular skiing resorts, conducted by Russian online hotel booking service Oktogo.ru. The rating is based on hotel reservations for New Year holiday season from January 1 to January 10, 2016.

The top ten most popular ski resorts in the former USSR include ski centers in Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. According to the survey, knowledge of Russian language by personnel, visa-free entry, excellent service, beautiful scenery and reasonable prices attract more and more Russian tourists to Tsakhkadzor. According to Oktogo.ru, the most budget ski resorts are Logoysk and Silichi in Belarus where an average day’s stay is $47 and the most expensive is Chimbulak ($95). The figure for Tsakhkadzor is $53. Tsaghkadzor is a skiing resort both for amateurs and professionals. The middle part of the mountain slopes is good for relaxing skiing (the vertical drop is 230 m). The lower part of the slopes is reserved for bobsled chute. The total length of ski tracks is over 7,200m. In total there are about 50 tracks. Slopes are processed by snowcats.
